~How we came up with the idea for "Henry Goes To The Park"
--It was a rainy boring day and Mitchell wanted to know what we could do. We happened to be walking by Mitchell's bedroom door, where a construction paper Hippo was hanging. He had recently made it in Kindergarten class and was so proud of how well it looked. We decided to write a story about this Hippo we now call Henry. Henry and his friends soon came to life with the illustrations to fit the story. We had so much fun writing the story of Henry Hippo and we hope you enjoy Henry Goes To The Park as much as we do and did creating
~Detective Buddy was created from out dog Buddy, that we adopted from the Humaine Society. He loves to snoop around, so what better story than a Detective story.
~We decided to write a story about Alex Fox from drawing illustrations together. We liked the idea of helping children meet new friends, after moving to another town. This story shows children to be themselves and have fun.
~Max and Daisy again came from drawing illustrations. They just seemed to look like a couple of adventurous puppies that needed to explore and find new things.
~My Dad Is A Soldier, Yes He Is! Is a story about a little boy who misses his dad while away at war.
~The Tree Fort Gang: The Journey to Cedar Hollow. A story of four adventurous young girls in search of treasure!
About Authors Zetta and Mitchell Hupf
Zetta grew up in a small town in West Virginia and is the youngest of eight children. She joined the U.S. Army right out of High School and met her husband while serving. Zetta and her husband Chris are Desert Storm Veterans and now reside in Wisconsin with their son Mitchell. We enjoy our yearly trips back to West Virginia to visit our family there. Zetta began drawing at a young age and would use that love of drawing to help write and illustrate stories with her son. She has always loved showing others her drawings, creating drawings as gifts and illustrating for other Authors, to help being their stories to life. Her theory is: "Reading a book is like looking through a window and Open children to the world, with a great adventure!" Her inspiration for Henry Goes To The Park, came from her son who loves to tell and write stories and from a construction paper Hippo he made at school. Every artist dreams of seeing their work in print, whether it's a book, poetry, or illustrations. We're having alot of fun writing and illustrating stories. This is a dream come true for us!
Mitchell is an outgoing 13 year old who loves football, playing the drums, drawing, making up stories, shooting archery, hunting, camping, fishing and so much more. He lives in Kaukauna with his family and dog Buddy. Mitchell's inspiration for Henry Goes To The Park, came on a boring rainy day with nothing to do and from a construction paper Hippo he had made in Kindergarten. Our love for animals, helped create the characters for the story. With his love of story telling and Mom's love of drawing, Henry came to life.
